A mixar canzoni per far ballare la gente mi son reso conto che c’era altro da mischiare: storie, saluti, messaggi e segreti.
Inoltre mi piace raccontare storie e usare il microfono come facevo in radio.
In questi anni ho testato il formato in diversi luoghi di Bologna: si chiama Messaggi Vocali, un dj set decorato di messaggi scritti dalle persone presenti, che io leggo tra una canzone e l’altra.
“Io ho le canzoni e voi le parole”
Inizio il djset annunciando il formato e poi inizio a distribuire micro-cartoline su cui le persone presenti possono scrivermi un messaggio per qualcuno che non c’è, un haiku improvvisato, una cosa bella, una dedica da lanciare su un bel beat.
Quando il pezzo si fa da parte apro il microfono e leggo quello che mi è arrivato, usando riddim, fisarmoniche e trap, per spargere il ritmo della gente che ho attorno.
Mi ci è voluto un pezzo per trovare il nome. Di sicuro non è un dj-set partecipativo, e mi risuona come ‘lasciare che degli sconosciuti facciano conversazione’.

After a long time playing songs to make people dance I realized that there’s more stuff to be mixed: stories, greetings, messages and secrets.
I still love to use the microphone and tell stories, because I miss hosting radio shows.
During the last few years I tested the format in different venues in the Bologna city: it’s called Voice Messages, a dj-set, dotted by messages written by those attending it, that I read at the microphone between the songs I play.
“I’ve got the songs, you’ve got the words”
I begin the djset announcing the format and distributing cards to people letting them know that they can write down dedications to someone far away, an improvised haiku or just something nice to be read over a beat.
When I receive the tickets I get the mic and read the messages I have received, tapping on riddims, accordions and trap beats, in order to spread the rhythm of the people surrounding me.
It took a while to find the name. Surely it’s not a participatory dj-set, to me it sounds like letting strangers creating a conversation.
